Basic (but Bad *ss) BROWNIES

What is the big stinking deal with brownies these days? There are a zillion recipes out there that make these grand claims about having 'such and such' type of brownie, and a lotttt of the times, it's total bs.
So imma give it to you straight up. The deal with this here particular brownie is:

 A. It is cakey
-->in other words, not a FUDGE-like brownie

B. It is sweet, and a tad salty, but also rich.
-->in other words, not rich and overpowering

C. It's yummy
--> in other words, it tastes good.

wouf. Boy am i glad that awkward conversation is over! It certainly feels good to clear the air. Now. Let's get it onnn...

What you need:
3/4 C flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 C (hefty --be generous!) butter or margarine (i use margarine)
1/2 C unsweetened/dark chocolate OR semisweet chocolate (i used semi sweet chocolate chips) just depends on your tastes or whatever you have on hand!
1/2 C packed brown sugar
1/2 C granulated sugar
1 egg or 2*-- see note below
1/4 C evaporated milk (*no worries if you don't have this, you can use one egg instead as a substitute).
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1/2- 3/4 C semisweet chocolate/chocolate chips OR White chocolate Or dark! you choose, have fun with it! Also, keep in mind, chocolate chips will hold there form more than slices/chunks of chocolate which will offer a more chocolatey-gooey-ish style.

What you need to do:

step one:
preheat oven to 350.  Grease an 8-inch square baking dish and set aside.

step two:
in a small-med sized bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder and salt. set aside for later, gator.

step three:
melt the first 1/2C chocolate and margarine in a double boiler (for you fancy folk who own one) ORRR
if you're like me, you'll need a heat-proof bowl or plate to stick on top of a pot of simmering water. You only need enough water to fill the pot 1/4 full (max)...just enough to let the steam and heat melt the chocolate. Stir this baby frequently to combine and create a chocolate syrup sauce.
As you can see, i opted for the glass plate with a lip, because that's all that would fit over the pot. #classyasf*ck

The melting process halfway through. Remember to stir it frequently!
ooh ya buddy. now we're talking.

 Step four:
After the ingredients are melted and combined nicely as seen above, remove heat. Place in a separate mixing bowl, and add the brown sugar and white sugar. Beat in the egg, evaporated milk, and vanilla.

Step five:
Take your dry ingredients (flour etc.) and toss that into the wet ingredients. Mix just until combined. Then you can fold in the separate chocolate chips or chunks or whatever your using!

Step six:
Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 20-25 minutes.
To test if it's done: Stab the baked brownies with a fork or toothpick, and if it comes out clean and dry then you're probably good to go =)
